What fun we're having!

Well, it's been a busy and challenging week and a half. Between the holidays and my bout with a serious sinus infection, we've had to work at maintaining the routine, but everyone seems to be doing just great. My thanks to Nancy and Rona Peerless for holding down the fort while I was out.

This week we have enjoyed singing in music with Mrs. Hale, playing games in gym with Mrs. Smith and we really love visiting Mrs. Scheier. She built a sukkah in her room- it's beautiful.

Our favorite thing to do with Mrs Scheier though, is the "Chicken Dance." We love to shake our tushies- boy, is it cute.

At circle time we have been learning about the upcoming holiday of Sukkot. We learned about the sukkah and how you can see the stars through the roof at night. Next week we will visit the school sukkah. We also learned about the Lulav and etrog and how the etrog looks and smells like a lemon.

The children have really enjoyed the Sammy Spider series of books by Sylvia Roush. There is one for each Jewish holiday and Shabbat. This week we've been reading "Sammy Spider's First Sukkot."

In art we experimented with dot art and marble painting. We'll have a debut of our artwork next week so keep your eyes peeled!

A reminder that there is NO SCHOOL this Thursday and Friday, and next Thursday and Friday. These days off are a great time to make playdates among the class. The kids really benefit from out of school playdates with their classmates- it increases their comfort level with school tenfold!

I hope you have an enjoyable sukkot holiday.

Debbie
