Hi Everyone-
I didn't realize it had been so long since I had updated the blog, but I guess with Chanukah, and my going out of town, I was a little out of sync. Anyway- here I am, and here is an update as to what we have been up to the last week or so since we saw you all at the Chanukah party. First of all, thanks to all of you for attending the party. I'm glad we could all celebrate together. I hope you enjoyed it.
In Music we've been using rhythm sticks and learning how to copy pattern in songs. The kids really enjoy it. We also have the benefit of being visited in music by Misel Weider. Misel is part of Yavneh's Dor L'Dor (Generation to Generation) volunteer program. Every Tuesday, seniors from throughout Cincinnati visit Yavneh and visit classes in the building. Misel, at 96, is our oldest volunteer. He is a Holocaust survivor and a lover of music. He loves to sit with the kids while they sing, and they love him, mostly because he comes bearing Hershey's Kisses!
In Gym we have had a substitute for the past few weeks. Mrs. Smith has been out while her son is recovering from surgery. We're working on the rules for Duck Duck Goose, and our ball skills- catching, rolling, bouncing.
At circle time, after exhausting every Chanukah song we could think of, we're moving onto the topic of winter and hibernation. In art we painted with textured gloves, sponges and colored with chalk.
Remember that when the temp is over 32 we do try to go outside so please send your child with appropriate outerwear. If you haven't changed the clothing in their box please do so as well.
Have a great weekend.
